Preseason game 3: Caps lose again, this time to ‘Hawks, 3-2

Recap: Joel Ward scored in the 1st on a deflection of an Ovechkin shot. The Blackhawks responded with 2 goals, both from Viktor Stalberg, early in the 3rd. Matt Hendricks tied it up at 2 with about 8 minutes left, but Brandon Saad scored the winner for the Hawks with under 4 minutes remaining. Vokoun went the distance for the Caps, allowing 3 goals on 26 shots (average!). His counterpart, Corey Crawford, played the entire game as well, allowing 2 goals on 24 shots.

Plus: Ward scored his first goal as a Cap… In addition to his goal, Hendricks also recorded 5 hits…Jonathan Toews had 2 assists

Minus: Vokoun!! (gleeful screeching)

Nightly Nugget: According to The Hockey News, this is a Stanley Cup Final preview, as THN called the Blackhawks and the Caps to win their respective conferences.
